Today we talked to Joel Posluns about Harmonic Authenticator for Claris Studio (HACS). Joel runs the database for a distributed aikido organization—50 dojos worldwide, 800 members, all managed through FileMaker on an on-prem Mac server.
He watched our Claris Community Live presentation and immediately saw his use case: “This is what we need.”
Here’s what caught his attention:
Joel’s already using Claris Studio with synchronized data. He’s built forms. But he needs authentication tied to his existing FileMaker accounts—not anonymous forms, not expensive external providers, not asking 50 dojo managers to create yet another login.
He wants each manager to see only their dojo’s data. He wants forms that respect the structure of aikido progression (six levels of white belt, then black belt ranks that route through their headquarters in Japan). He wants automation that removes manual work from their all-volunteer staff.
HACS would let him do that using the FileMaker accounts he’s already managing.
The conversation reconfirmed something important: this isn’t a technical curiosity. A lot of people have real workflows that need this piece.
Joel’s volunteering to be a beta tester. We’re scheduling more conversations with others from the Claris event, and these conversations are shaping what we build.
More soon.
