Fred Craven
Fred’s been the steady presence at Harmonic since 2008—back when he was employee number four and the office was probably half the size it is now. He started in administration and customer support, but like most people here, his role evolved into something that didn’t exist before: part AWS systems administrator, part video producer, part external face of the company. It’s the kind of job that requires someone who can switch gears without missing a beat.
Fred’s the Stage Manager Stage Manager at Harmonic—a title that makes perfect sense once you know him. He keeps our cloud servers humming, produces our video content, handles client communications, and helps run our monthly FMPUG meetings with the same steady presence you’d want running a live opera performance.
Outside the office, Fred lives a double life that would make most people dizzy. He’s been singing bass with the Dallas Opera Chorus since 1991 and regularly plays the villain in local musical theater—apparently, he’s got the voice for it. When he’s not on stage, you might find him rolling around a judo mat, enjoying a good cigar, or helping run our monthly FileMaker user group meetings. Thirty-seven years of marriage, ten kids, seven grandchildren, and he still finds time for cycling.
