Brian Hamm

Engineer, FileMaker
FileMaker Developer, Python Developer, LLM Specialist

Brian’s been building software for nearly 25 years, starting with FileMaker Pro v4 when most
people were still figuring out what databases could do. He’s worked in-house roles and spent a
decade as an indie developer, publishing apps to the App Store and creating SwiftFM—the most-used SDK connecting Swift with the FileMaker Data API. At Harmonic, Brian accepts heavy lifts readily and delivers reliably, without trying to impress anyone with his considerable coding prowess.

As an Engineer splitting time between the Low Code and App Tech teams, Brian specializes in technologies that connect FileMaker to other stacks and APIs. He’s as comfortable writing Python or SQL as he is working in FileMaker or Swift—whatever the project needs. His role often involves bridging different systems seamlessly, requiring both technical skill and creative problem-solving.

Brian spent much of his twenties and thirties studying music theory and composition, including choral performances at the Myerson, Carnegie Hall, and the Konzert-Haus in Vienna. Those experiences shaped his creative approach to everything he does, whether he’s at a piano or in an IDE. He brings compositional thinking to software architecture—understanding that the best solutions require both technical precision and artistic vision.
